You never forget your first real, big, job. Mine was illustrating the life cycle of the salmon for the Skagit Wild and Scenic River poster, a collaborative project between Seattle City Light, Puget Sound Energy, and various US governmental organizations. For years, I'd bump into this image every time I went to an agency kiosk or did an author presentation in a Washington school. But time goes by, and things fade out of existence. Other than the copy proudly displayed in my parents' hall, I haven't seen this poster in over a decade.
Imagine my surprise when contacted by Fisheries and Oceans Canada, who hope to use it for signage on local stream stewardship programs. I could not be more thrilled to know this old image is out on a new mission of helping educate a new generation on the importance of stream stewardship.
I've been promised photos of these signs on location, and will be sharing them here as I can!
